Prepoo Hair Mask

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on January 23, 2010 by fancee

I came home last night feeling really tired, and my hair looked just as tired. Actually it looked very greasy and I knew the next day was wash day. I decided to make myself a prepoo hair mask from the following ingredients.

3 Tbls – HoneyPenjagaan Rambut

3 Tbls – Cheapie Conditioner

2 Tbls – Coconut Oil

1 Tbls – Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cap full of Eucalyptus Oil ( Optional – I use this because of a dry flaky scalp I suffer from)

  1. Heat up the honey until it’s a very loose liquid
  2. Add the EVOO and Coconut oil while honey is still warm
  3. Add the cheapie conditioner and let the mixture sit and cool down
  4. Mixture will become thick like a pudding
  5. Apply the mixture to the hair ends and work your way up to the roots in small sections
  6. Cover hair with plastic cap for a couple of hours or overnight
  7. Rinse, shampoo and condition as usual

Oh my word! When I rinsed this mixture out my hair was so soft and my curl pattern was seriously defined. I decided to leave my hair curly instead of doing a roller set, which was my first intention. My hair is feather light and the curls are really defined.

Let’s talk about the benefits of each ingredient listed.

Honey in a jar

Honey contains vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and is a wonderful beauty aid that nourishes the skin and the hair. Honey also acts as an antibacterial and antifungal agent and helps disinfect and speed the healing process in wounds, scrapes and burns. It also adds lustrous shine to dull hair.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Since ancient times, Mediterranean people have used olive oil to hydrate, regenerate and soften their skin, as well as strengthen and hydrate their hair and nails.  To make your hair shinier, silkier and more lustrous and even help heal dandruff, massage some olive oil into your scalp and hair, then cover the hair with a plastic cap for at least 30 minutes.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shinny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus has a clear, sharp, fresh and very distinctive smell, is pale yellow and watery in viscosity. A few drops of eucalyptus oil either applied directly to the scalp or mixed with shampoo can be used to stimulate the blood flow to the hair and help revitalize dull or shedding hair.

There you have it. I urge everyone to try this prepoo hair mask and treat your hair to a little TLC. Have a good hair day!

January 18, 2010 Length Check

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on January 18, 2010 by fancee

Hey, Hey, HEEEEY!

I took my sew in weave down last night so that I could wash, condition and length check today. It was a long process, but my hair felt amazing when I was done. I clarified and deep conditioned with my usual ORS products, but this time I added extra virgin coconut oil to my deep condition. I covered my hair up with a conditioning cap and a silk scarf and proceeded to sit under my dryer for 45 minutes. The hair fanatics of youtube kept me busy while I patiently waited for my deep conditioning to end.

My hair was so freaking soft when I rinsed and towel dried my hair. I couldn’t keep my hands out of my curls. Next I applied my Infusiu

m 23 repairologie leave-in along with my Sebastian Potion 9 wearable treatment. I sectioned my hair in two and plaited both sides. It was back under the dryer for another 45 minutes as I waited for my hair to dry completely.

Once my hair was dry, I applied my Chi Silk Infusion to my sections as I got ready to flat iron my hair for my length check. It took forever since I do really small sections. I am in desperate need of a dusting, which I may buckle down and do tonight before I moisturize and seal. Check out my length!

I have a good 2 to 3 inches to go before I hit full bra strap length. I believe that I will achieve that as long as I keep my hair in the protective styles for at least another 5 months. I also want to work on the thickness of my hair, but castor oil is too much for my hair. The build up is crazy and it weighs down my fine strands. I’m going to do my research on thickening hair and hit you good people up with the truth.

Overall I am happy with how things are growing. I really want to get better and better at moisturizing and sealing while my hair is weaved up. I may even try some half wigs soon in order to have better access to my ends nightly. I don’t know…I’ll think about it.

I’m signing off to do some research. Have a good hair day!!

Update on Protective Style Challenge

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on January 13, 2010 by fancee

So, I’m 9 days into my challenge and I am very happy with my routine. Yesterday I woke up feeling like my hair needed some serious TLC. I clarified with my ORS Uplifting Shampoo and deep conditioned with ORS Replenishing conditioner. Check out how I use them in my regimen I sealed the conditioner in with coconut oil. Don’t forget that I still have my sew in and I treat that hair exactly like the one growing from my scalp. I find that the weave holds up for much longer, and I don’t use expensive hair at all. I cover the hair with a conditioning cap and my satin bonnet.

When I rinsed my hair in the evening, I was so amazed at how soft it was. I blow dried my hair on cool making sure that my braids got dry first. Then I flat ironed my roots only and set my entire head in rollers for bed. I took the rollers out and this is what it looked like before I finger combed. I blanked out my face cause I really looked jacked without my moisturizer and make-up. Anyway, my hair was soft and shiny and the curls were pretty bouncy. I want to give the curls time to drop so that they dont look too hectic.

I think that I will leave this particular hair in for a max of another week. I want get a nice wet and wavy hair so I can put my flat iron to rest for the rest of my challenge. I will just blend my natural curls into the weave and make it look natural. Stay tuned for a length check when I change my hair and maybe a video. I’m trying to build up enough courage to do a video. Anyway, I will try to get another picture in later on today when the curls drop.

Have a good hair day!

I’m so sorry…

Posted in Uncategorized on December 1, 2009 by fancee

So sorry to have been away for over a month. I have been so busy with life that I had no time to chat about my favorite subject. Anyway, I have hair updates and plenty of things to chat about before Christmas. I hope everyone had a slamming Thanksgiving even though we don’t celebrate that in SA.

Chat later…
